About the Project

Ecologically Rodent Pest Management in Tanzania: A Biological Control approach (ECO-RODBARN) PROJECT is a Two -year Research Project implemented by the  Sokoine University of Agriculture(Institute of Pest Management ). The project was launched on November  2023.

The objective of the project is to increase awareness of the potential benefits of using barn owls as predators of pest rodents in maize fields and to minimize the usage of rodenticides in rodent management as a basis for ecologically-based rodent pest management in Tanzania

Partners

The project will be implemented collaboratively by Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania)  and Ekhagastiftelsen foundation of Sweden

Project Leadership

At Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), the project is coordinated by Dr.Martin John Martin and Prof Apia Massawe (Institute of Pest Management).
